I don’t know about you when I hear those words it evokes a much different picture for me then most. Indulge me briefly, if you will, of those words uttered by a very southern lady back in the “Gone With The Wind” days. With great indignation a quick snap of her fan, she flutters her fan in front of her face as if to hide the fact she has just been offended of what was just spoken to her.  She’s offended of the words spoken….hmmm.

Declare: In the Hebrew translated: Achvah – “to make known” or “to set forth an accounting”.

One of my favorite topics to teach/preach on is Prayer. For me it is like an onion with so many layers. Just when you think you know everything there is to know about prayer, God reveals another layer . Declaring is a very significant aspect of Prayer. Declaring the Word of the Lord over ourselves. If you have ever been out of the country, upon coming back into U.S. you were probably asked if you have anything to “declare”.  Do you have anything to be made known? Do you have anything to account for?

Applying those questions in the spiritual context, dare I say, lights a fire in me! We need to be declaring the Word of God over our life, about who we are in Him. We need to declare that we are free from the stench of this world. We need to be declaring what we know and give an account of who He is!

The world has no problems declaring their message. The Word tells us,
“Declare his glory among the nations, his marvelous deeds among all peoples.”Psalms 96:3 If we don’t declare His glory among the nations, who will?

Here is your challenge: Even in the small things declare the glory of God- the Gospel-the good news! It’s time for us to quit hiding behind our fan and begin to Declare who Christ is !
