Friends are such a mainstay of our lives. Don’t ever underestimate the power of good friends. What makes a good friend? A friend is someone who gives support, encourages, truth speaker, under gird and so much more. When we become a follower of Jesus Christ our definition of what a friend is changes. When sufferings come, surround yourself with those who will encourage, undergird and speak truth (God’s truth). Above all of these things is someone who will pray for you.

Our friends my fail us in the midst of our misery, but God never does. Looking at Job’s friends, you can see how their lack of encouragement and prayer but him on the defense. Job 16:2 calls them out. “Miserable comforters are you all!” He continues to share where his deep strength comes from in Job 19:25-27. 25I know that my redeemer lives, and that in the end he will stand on the earth. 26And after my skin has been destroyed, yet in my flesh I will see God; 27I myself will see him with my own eyes-I, and not another. How my heart yearns within me!

Job realized that his redeemer lives! The one that will see him through. The one that provides for all that he needs. His redeemer, comforter, strength, encourager, hope and friend!

Father, thank you for placing people around me that will speak your truth and pray for me with a boldness that only you can provide. When others may disappoint, your Word and your Spirit gives me the strength to see me through every circumstance. Thank you Father for putting those who live a life uncompromised and help me to do the same. I open myself up to you to be my great REDEEMER!
