My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me. John 10:27
I recently was the show, “Somebody’s Gotta Do It”. The show deals with the host Mike Rowe learning about jobs/careers of other people. On this particular episode, the host was learning about what was involved in teaching dogs to herd sheep. Sounds like a boring show right? It actually was interesting. These dogs learn and respond to the spoken word or sounds by the master. It was amazing to see the obedience and how quickly they responded.
Watching these dogs in their obedience to a single word command or the tune of a whistle was mesmerizing! Even out of sight of their master the dogs held to what they were instructed to do, until they received new instructions. The master explained that the dogs love to be obedient and are eager to follow the commands of the master. Shouldn’t that be our heartbeat? Shouldn’t we be eager to follow the direction of our Master?
Many are the plans in a person’s heart, but it is the Lord’s purpose that prevails” (Proverbs 19:21). No matter how tempting it was for the dogs to take their own course, they stayed the course laid out by their master, for the Master had the purpose of it all.
Let it be our challenge today not to wonder away from God’s purposes. There may be times we feel like we can’t see God at work in our life but His ways are always at work in our life. It is my hearts cry to always stay close to my Master so that I always hear his commands to stay the course He has purposed for me!
Awesome! Thank you for sharing this!
