From the previous account of the sufferings of Job, no one can deny this man had a lot of bad things happening. Knowing that he was a man with uncompromising faith, it is hard to understand why he had to suffer so much. His suffering came because of his unwavering faithfulness to God. Then the LORD said to Satan, “Have you considered my servant Job? There is no one on earth like him; he is blameless and upright, a man who fears God and shuns evil.” – Job 1:8.
The scriptures are full of reminders that we will go through sufferings, trials, testings and some bad times. The enemy has a job to do, “The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.” John 10:10. While the “thief” has a job to do, the good news is that Jesus has come so we can have life to the full! We will see later in Job how he was able to have his life restored!
Don’t lose hope when you are going through a time of suffering. Hold onto God, be unwavering in your faith that God is in control despite how the circumstance of life is unfolding.
Father, help me to remember that you are a God that is in control. While life may bring unexpected challenges and sufferings, we can rest in the fact that God is sovereign. You are faithful! You are in control! Thank you for using all the bad that comes my way to stretch my faith, strengthen my walk and give me the opportunity to sing your praises!
