This book of instruction must not depart from your mouth, you are to meditate on it day and night so that you may carefully observe everything written in it. For then you will prosper and succeed in whatever you do.” Joshua 1:8

It has been quite awhile since I last blogged. God has been gloriously moving, showing Himself faithful and true. There has been a lot of changes in life with teaching online, ministry within the church and other ministry opportunities. Clarity becomes necessary to make sure I am following and choosing the correct path. Sometimes, if you are like me, uncertainty can set in on what opportunity path you are to take. Where do I begin to know? You go back to the place where you last had that clarity – in His Word.

So many times I have taught on the importance of renewing our minds. Reading and meditating on Joshua 1:8 sits me down to where I need to be. Realizing what is before is the ” book of instruction” which holds the answer to every issue of life. Holding fast to these Holy and unfailing words progressively become the very language I speak. Furthermore, this verse gives a directive of how often I (we) should meditate on them – day and night! If we are to meditate on something, it is to roll something over and over in our thoughts. My commentary suggests we are to “meditate much like a cow chews its cud”. Hmmm, we will save that analogy for another day. Continually pondering, focusing on each layer of truth available to us, digesting it in such a way that it can take root deep within us. (Oh Lord, it is like how a cow chews its cud).

Finally, it happens : “For then“. Then – a small word that holds so much significance. Then – a word that serves as a gate to change. Perhaps as children you may have heard, “Clean your room, then, you can go outside. Get your homework done, then, you can go to your friends.” Then – a promise of something ahead, a change. The conclusion of this verse delivers this blessed hope…this promise to prosper and of success. Bottom line: Grab hold of this book of instruction, let it change your vocabulary, meditate on it day and night (renew your mind DAILY), search out its truths, THEN you will prosper and have success in whatever you do. Glory!

Be encouraged today by the Holy Spirit. He sees and knows exactly where you are. He sees me. As you apply Joshua 1:8, be willing to change. Be willing to allow the Holy Spirit to line up your words to God’s Holy word. I encourage you to pray today:

Father, thank you for your word that brings instruction, comfort and clarity. Everything begins and ends with you, so I will begin and end my day with you. Help me to see you in your word and by your Holy Spirit, help me to apply it to my life. Thank you Jesus that you never leave me alone. You are always leading and ordering my steps daily. Show me through your word my God-given purpose as I apply your truth. I glorify you Jesus for prospering my path and bringing success in whatever I do. In your name…Amen
