Now when Moses held up his hand, Israel prevailed, and when he lowered his hand [due to fatigue], Amalek prevailed. 12But Moses’ hands were heavy and he grew tired. So they took a stone and put it under him, and he sat on it. Then Aaron and Hur held up his hands, one on one side and one on the other side; so it was that his hands were steady until the sun set. Exodus 17: 11-12

We are entering the time of the year where children are going back to school. The excitement of new school supplies and clothes can be heard up and down the aisles of the stores. Who didn’t get excited about getting that box of 64 Crayola crayons? I remember taking our children to their first day of school. Each year was a milestone toward their future accomplishments. No doubt parents and children today still share that excitement (hopefully).

However, times have changed since our children were in school. Our culture, our society has changed since our children’s age. Today’s children have to face so many things that children even ten years ago did not have to endure. Teachers and staff have to address circumstances that were not a consideration before. Our teachers, staff and administration are on the front line fighting for our children. Never before have our students/families need someone to fight for them on the frontline.

We see in the Exodus 17 account, Moses was winning the battle when his arms were raised. When Moses grew fatigued he began to lose the battle. Scriptures show us that they did what they could to support Moses (placed a stone for him to sit upon) and when Aaron and Hur came along each side of Moses to hold up his arms bringing victory for Israel. Exodus 17 is the example for us today. We need to come along side of our educators, staff and administrators. Holding up their arms in prayer so they can do battle on the frontline for our students/families.

Our battle seems even more intense than ever. The time we live in today is a time of confusion between right and wrong. Isaiah 5:20 You are headed for trouble! You say wrong is right, darkness is light, and bitter is sweet. We need to come along side our educators and cover them in prayer. Whether or not we have children in school does not matter. We are interceding for future Billy Graham’s, Dr. James Dobson’s, missionaries, worship leaders, pastors and more!

I encourage you to get involved with your local school district whether it’s by bringing a Godly presence to your school district through volunteering/serving or standing in the gap through prayer and intercession. Let this year be the year your district experiences the presence of God on its campus and classrooms, but it begins with you & me.

I challenge you to hold up the arms of your local school board, administrators, teachers and staff. The battle that we fight is real and we need to offer our prayerful support to those who are on the frontlines. It’s only then we can win the battle!

Father, we lift up our school districts and all that are on the frontlines for our students and families. Help us to be aware of how I can help those who are directly impacting our children. We ask for your Holy Spirit to be present with our teachers and students. Protect them Father from harm so they can learn in fear-free. Thank you for helping the teachers to grow fatigued in walking out their calling. Show us Father how we can be a blessing to our educators, students and families by holding up their arms so we can win this battle! In your name, let it be done!
